Abstract

I find it interesting that, on September 14, 2004, the day I decided to start writing this commentary on serotonin and cortisol, a headline on the front page of that day’s USA Today read: “Prozac linked to child suicide risk: Study finds 50% greater chance; companies defend antidepressants”. Not be outdone, the front page from the same day’s New York Times stated: “F.D.A. FINDS DRUGS LINKED TO SUICIDE: Antidepressants seen as risk for teenagers.”
