Asparagus officinalis is a perennial vegetable that has been around for thousands of years. It has a long history of medicinal uses and is recognized as one of the richest sources of nutrients. Over the years, scientists have studied its many properties from being an excellent alkalizing agent to a natural diuretic to an antioxidant to an immune-boosting agent. The studies presented herein focus on three specific areas that Asparagus addresses: the heart, kidneys and immunity.
