Abstract
CALCIUM (Ca) IS A ALKALINE EARTH METAL; along with beryllium (Be), magnesium (Mg), strontium (Sr), barium (Ba) and radium (Ra). It is the 5th most abundant element by mass in the Earth’s crust, in seawater and in the human body. Bone is the largest repository of stored calcium in the human body at ninety nine percent, with only one percent circulating in the bloodstream as ionized calcium.
