Abstract

THE FOCUS OF THIS ARTICLE IS EFFECTIVE DIETARY AND NUTRITIONAL SUPPORT OF THE HYPOGLYCEMIC PATIENT. On the spectrum of dysglycemia - hypoglycemia can be just as challenging as hyperglycemia in proper management. It is now seen that hypoglycemia is a precursor to diabetes. The combination of cortisol fluctuations, insulin surges, insomnia, headache and fatigue all play a part in this battlefield. The majority of research on hypoglycemia is aimed at hypoglycemia caused by diabetic medications, rather than the functional condition seen in many patients. The clinician armed for success will understand an overall strategy for management combined with effective tactics to aide our hypoglycemic patients daily challenge.
