Abstract

ABSTRACT: Bovine colostrum is a rich source of proteins and peptides, which plays a crucial role in innate immunity and may accelerate maturation of the immune system in humans. Bovine colostrum is homologous to humans and is much richer in immune factors than human colostrum. Recent studies and clinical research suggest immunoglobulins present in bovine colostrum might be useful for the treatment of a various kinds of gastrointestinal conditions, bacteria, viruses, cancer, and autoimmune conditions. This review highlights protective protein factors of bovine colostrum and discusses aspects of their current applications for human therapeutic benefit.
